Associate Professor, Uppsala University
Emin Poljarević is Associate Professor in Systematic Theology and a Sociologist of Religion at Uppsala University, Sweden. His research spans political and liberation theology, social mobilization, and Islamic thought in Muslim-majority and minority contexts. With expertise in Muslim civil rights activism and liberation theology, Poljarević combines normative analysis with field-based sociology to illuminate how faith, ethics, and collective action interact in contemporary public life. For Bosniak Studies, his work offers comparative insights into memory, justice, and rights; the politics of recognition; and the role of Islamic ethical traditions in post-conflict societies and diasporic settings. He earned a PhD in Sociology from the European University Institute (2012).
