Adisa Busuladzic holds an M.A. in International Affairs from American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C. She is currently writing her PhD thesis on the neocolonial transformations of Bosnian statehood at the University of Sarajevo’s Faculty of Political Science. With a B.A. in Journalism, she began her career as a journalist for various media outlets.
In 1995, she moved to the U.S. as a refugee from the war-torn country. The combination of her war-zone reporting experience and graduate degree in international affairs provided her with valuable skills that were highly sought after in the U.S. job market. She worked for several American contractors implementing U.S. government projects worldwide, including the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Afghanistan. She also worked for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Ukraine, Albania, Georgia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
She has presented at international conferences, including Free Media Going Rampant: Media and Power Politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2009 International Conference on Journalism Research in the Public Interest in Winterthur, Switzerland, and The Bosniaks: Failing Role Models of Muslim Europeans at the 2010 International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) in Braga, Portugal.
